SEPTEMBER 2014

IRIS KETTLE
Kenwood came to our university and asked us to design a new KMix Range for 2015. They wanted us to design a range of Kitchen products for a consumer that enjoys spending time in the kitchen.
I went away and thought about the less enjoyable tasks in the kitchen and thought about how I can adapt them for the consumer.
The kettle was designed with an Iris Diaphragm lid, normally seen in camera lenses. Not only would this create a different aspect to the interaction for the user but it would also allow the user to easily fill the kettle under any tap.
This project allowed me to explore the maunfacturing details within a complex product. The project also allowed me to learn the process of building an assembled product ready for maunfacturing.
