Cicada was designed as a speaker to enable users to experience their memories in a more immersive and interactive way. The speaker was designed with a minimal neutral aesthetic in mind; this allows the memories to flourish. The speaker features a simple white clean form with a band of English Pine around the top. This is contrasted with an orange fabric wire that allows the speaker to drop down to a suitable height for interaction. On the underside of the speaker a sunflower pattern was chosen. This humble and subtle pattern gives a reference to nature and allows the music to emit in a total three hundred and sixty degree equal sequence.

The system works by using a companion app alongside the speaker that allows an anonymous community to help individuals experience their memories in a totally refreshing way.

The companion app that was designed allows people to post photos onto a timeline and other people in the community to suggest music to suit their upload. The next process involves the user playing music by selecting memories on the companion app they want to listen to. This then gives a depth to peoples pictures and enhances their memories.This process shows how music and memories can work together to help improve a persons mind set.
